### Petrol Dealers’ Commission Hike to Cost Consumers Over Rs26 Billion Annually

The federal government has imposed an additional annual burden of more than **Rs26 billion** on consumers by increasing the commission paid to petroleum dealers, according to a report by **Dawn**.

The government raised the dealers’ commission by **Rs1.34 per litre** on August 14, taking the commission on petrol and diesel from **Rs8.64 to Rs9.98 per litre**.

The additional cost will ultimately be borne by consumers, adding further pressure on the public already struggling with inflation and unemployment.

With the latest increase, consumers are expected to pay more than **Rs26 billion annually** in petroleum dealers’ commissions. This comes on top of an estimated **Rs1.727 trillion** that consumers will contribute this year through petroleum and climate levies on petroleum products.

The increase, announced on **Pakistan’s Independence Day**, has drawn criticism over the additional financial burden it places on consumers.
